New to Bigfoot

Hi I’m Niel
No stranger to camping twenty some years with a tent trailer, five and a half with a Casita Liberty. While on our last trip a couple weeks ago our local Bigfoot dealer said he was taking delivery of a 25R21FB soon so we jumped on it. Seems like it should be pretty dialled in, but it would be interesting to hear what I should be looking for. are there any tweaks that folks are doing to these rigs? Looking forward to some cold weather camping.

Wow, that's a big(foot) upgrade from a liberty to a 25R21FB. Enjoy.
In the past Bigfoots had very low road clearance, too low in my opinion. You might want to evaluate that.
Enjoy, and watch out for agoraphobia.

Niel, Have had the same 21FB Bigfoot for two seasons and are usually looking for a destination to stay warm! Only made minimal changes to our Bigfoot; 175 watt solar panel on roof, twin 6 volt cart batteries, 3000 watt inverter, back-up camera and 3m protective film on the front lower half to protect against rock chips. Most of extreme weather we encounter has been heading out of northern British Columbia into the western states in early spring with temperatures as low as -20c. Used a 5 gal water jug for the first couple of nights with the black/grey until we could find some source of running water to fill up. No problem keeping the Bigfoot warm with the standard furnace on those first few cold nights. Considered a lift as we spend most of our travels boondocking or on forest service roads but an axle flip would gain four inches which is more than I wanted for height clearance around trees and possibly compromise the highway stability. No issues so far with ground clearance.

If a 4" flip is too much for you a good, inexpensive alternative would be 2" spacers.

Thanks Gail, we’re just east of Sacramento so I wouldn’t consider much of what we do cold weather. The mountains are close though. This summer we passed through Goose Lake State Park in Oregon right up by the NE corner or California; we’re thinking about heading up there and seeing if we can find some hot springs to soak in. Thank for the tip on ground clearance. Forest service campgrounds are nice to explore, I think we’ll still fit into most places. Some trailers are too big for some of the places we visit.

Consider joining Bigfoot Owners Club International and the facebook Bigfoot groups. You will find tons of useful information and probably better response to questions and issues.
