1983 Scamp 19'

I recently purchased a 1983 Scamp 19' 5th wheel, which has been sitting for a long time. I cannot get the landing gear to either retract or lower. I have pushed the crank all the way in until the slots in it engage and cranked up and down but nothing happens. The shaft going all the way thru to the 2nd leg is turning but nothing is happening. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks

This video might provide you what you need to understand what could be wrong. It starts at about the 2 minute mark.

Thanks for the video. My biggest fear is starting to materialize. I'm guessing I'll have to remove the landing gear and either repair or replace it.

I don’t know anything about this particular outfit but is there a shear pin somewhere? Based on what-all I have had to replace/repair/renovate on my 1988 Scamp your adventure is just beginning. I am absolutely not trying to be mean, just realistic. If your greatest fear is a landing gear issue you may have some rude surprises awaiting you.

I am guessing there are pins thru the gears but not sure if they are shear pins or not. But that will be one of the first things I'll check. Thanks.

Honestly this is an old trailer that has been sitting in disrepair for a long time and I can't even call it a diamond in the rough.Much worse than that.

Glad to hear you survived your project and are enjoying it.

Where in Georgia are you located? There should be quite a few small fiberglass campers at East Bank Campground near Bainbridge, in southwest Georgia for a rally beginning Jan. 5, 2021. Maybe you can come and ask/look at a similar camper. I will be there but I will be in a Casita, not a fifth wheel. Good luck!

Thank you for that Idea! I live close , only about 45 minutes away. I had planned on attending but had sold our Casita so wasn't going. I had forgot all about it.
