Casita Trailer Axle

My 17" Casita trailer is a 1998 model.

I want to change axle for more clearance for boon-docking.

I've read accounts here of removing the welded axle and welding on a new one.

Why would I do that? Why not put on leaf springs, and some shocks?

If you are a competent welder/fabricator the world's your oyster, you can do what you want! There's even a third option of torsion axle and shocks. https://texascustomz.com/project/basic-casita-build/

Better to remove the axle and fit an independent off-road suspension with 100,000 mile bearings from Texas Custimz.
