77 Boler 17ft

Hi there, I am fixing up a Boler I recently bought. I am looking for some suggestions to replace an exterior vent cover. I think it’s for the fridge but I haven’t seen any other Bolers with this vent. Since it’s on the curve of the roof it needs to be pliable. Any help appreciated. Thanks

The fridge normally has 2 vents. The top opening in your pic does not appear to be factory standard.

Thanks so much John, I didn’t think it was factory since I can’t see any other bolers with this vent but when I took it apart it was riveted which indicated that maybe it was stock. I’m thinking I may just put something over it to cover it up if it’s not necessary. Thanks so much for the link

A sheet metal shop will be able to fabricate a vent for you. Ideally you would arrive with a detailed drawing and have thought out how you want the edges rolled and Etc. A journeyman sheet metal worker will whip that out very quickly and neatly.

I agree... take a drawing even a good a/c company can do it as they often have to make specific duct work

The best thing you can do to improve ammonia fridge operation is better ventilation. When you have the sheet metal made, keep that in mind.

That is more than likely a modification. Something that I might have done to mine but I still have mine.

I would suggest that you follow the advice of a few of the other sage repliers. Get a new vent created since you will need the vent for the fridge to function properly. The fridge needs to draw in air through the lower vent and exit at least at the top of the fridge opening. Most upper vents were half way up the wall above the fridge.

The lovely thing about fibreglass eggs is the fact that you can also create something out of fibreglass to accommodate a new vent cover. Allows for rounded corners. I did this to accommodate a larger fridge in our Boler.
