boler door latch

Hi all!
My 1973 boler is very difficult to close the door. from the outside its not too bad, but I have to press on the door with my body weight to get it to latch. closing the door froth inside is a lot more difficult, you have to hold down the lever and pull on it extremely hard to get it to catch and stay closed. Is this just how they are? Or should something be replaced? Ill attach pictures of the style door handle I have.

Is this trailer new-to-you? Have any changes been made recently (like a new seal, re-aligned hinges,…)? What parts of the door contact the seal first? Without a close inspection, it’s hard to say what’s causing the tightness.

Offhand, one thing you can do is shim out the inside box.

I added an new handle to the inside of our Boler to take the stress of closing off of the regular handle

its new to me, we just got her in march. I took another look at the door and it touches at the top first, the top part of the door seal is also very compressed, whereas the rest of it is very puffy. Im not sure what you mean by "shim out the inside box"
