If I had an oxygen awning, I could camp at higher elevations!!!!

OK, yes, I am headed for my room....

With a curved trailer side? I would consider a free-standing screen room, rather than an awning fixed to the trailer body. Just a thought...

I agree re free-standing tent. We have put some snug to the wall -great for sun, and it only rains through the gap
Perhaps parking under an open-sided tent or half under one , if you could get long enough poles.
Sorry I didn't see your posting sooner. Hope you are enjoying your oxygen

Smile Awning

Here's what we add to our Oxygen. It takes time to install but when you're staying more than one night at the same place, it's great.

That looks like a great screened awning for the Oxygen. How do you connect it to the side of the trailer?

Oxygen Trailer Awning

Attached are a couple photos of our awning installed on our Oxygen Trailer. Takes approx. 5 minutes with two adults, relatively small to pack, provides the basic sun and rain coverage we require.

I like the simplicity, however I'm reluctant in attaching or altering anything, such as in your design. It's a difficult decision regarding the compromising of the exterior and original design in relation to the confort the awning brings.
In the end it's a personal decision.
Cheers.

Ooo,..I like this! I agree, I wont physically alter our Oxygen in any way. It's important to me to keep its original character, structure and integrity.
Peace.

This one has an awning added by the previous owner...:-)

Just found this one a couple days ago. The previous owner added this marine Catalina awning. Looks strange on curved line but what the heck, it's now too late to remove it because of the holes. Will post more pics this summer during one of our adventure in the northern boreal forest!

Cheers from Montreal

Sad the integrity of the trailer has been altered.

I feel the benefits do not out weigh the integrity of the unit. I realize hindsight is 20/20, unfortunately the individual that created this change did not or would not consider the nasty distraction this "rat trap" contributed to a once pristine trailer. Sad really.

Thanks for your comment.

We just bought it like this a month ago after 2 years of intensive research...
We wanted it so badly...:-)

The good: An awning is always useful and enjoyable for sun and rain protection. Ours is unique, a ''FrankenEgg'' Ha Ha!

The bad: It's true It looks kind of strange on this egg shape trailer. However, removing the awning will leave 5 holes. No way, we're not into getting a fiberglass + paint job ($$$)

This baby will travel in the Quebec boreal forest very soon!

Life is terrible...:-)

I totally understand, and I think the reason I was a little loose with my comment was because I realize it was not your doing, hope you're not offended. I also understand how difficult these trailers are to find. As long as the awning is operational you may as well enjoy it.
Have Safe and wonderful travels.
Cheers.

Awning on Bonair Oxygen

Hi Oliver,

Not offended at all. Happy to see we are a couple survivors enjoying this awesome camper.

We actually found 2 units in Quebec last month (kind of a very rare event!). The other one was another grey unit which was apparently ''finished'' by an ex-employee of the factory who bought the last units after the plant burned down in 2002.

The drawback is that he did not installed all the original part and added a shitty & ugly door (without bug screen) and all the windows (except the kitchen) were replaced by plexigass panels which did not even open! Terrible!

On top of this he added the exact same Dometic awning...

We plan to add a shower drain on ours. Do you installed one?

Cheers from Montreal

We've had our Oxygen for about 7 or 8 years now and love it. It was purchased in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and was originally sold new in Moose Jaw Sask. We did run into a guy (figuratively) while camping that said he owned one. This would have been a few years ago. He had been searching for one for awhile. He shared that he had paid $15,500 for his. I know that new off the lot these were priced at over twenty thousand. Can I ask what they are selling for now out in your area? Also, I was told at one time how many were manufactured but can't recall, can you confirm? We've make no changes to ours, although I did see some pics on this site of an Oxygen a fellow updated, paint, upholstery, counter top and a beautiful wooden door for the washroom. Perhaps you've seen them? I thought about installing a shower but I am still very hesitant about altering the original product.
Cheers.

You can take a look at something like this track. Mine is mounted to the Scamp with 3M VHB tape. So while not easy to remove can be, and no holes.

Awning Rail - 90 degree - 8 Foot

This can be run along the roof far enough back to avoid the curved walls. You might then talk to Marti's about making the awning, she does custom work Marti's Vintage Trailer Awnings Or also look to Vintage Trailer for an awning Vintage Trailer Awnings

Last but not least you can attach a nylon tarp such as one posted in an earlier post. I used this approach and the homemade hangers like the ones in the link below to put up a 10 x 12 nylon tarp, track is far enough over the door that I can go in and out without getting wet in the rain. No mosquito nets however.

Make your own Awning Track Hangers

On my little scamp the 12 ft. side of tarp goes into the track using the center 4 grommets and then I have a pole about a foot out from each corner on the camper side of the tarp. Three poles on the outer side. My tarp is really big for my camper but then we spend most of our time outside, even for cooking so lots of room is nice.
