New Bigfoot Owners

Hey all,

My wife and just bought our first travel trailer which is a 1980 B16 Bigfoot Camper. It needs a little bit of TLC so I am looking forward to reading everyones answers to all my questions I'm going to have! Been doing lots of searching already as I need to replace both rear window seals, and sooner or later fix up the ceiling and the list goes on. The community really seems awesome and I will share some pictures of this beauty soon!

Cheers from Alberta,

Case

Welcome!

Does it say B16 somewhere on the camper?

There seem to be a flush of new early Bigfoot owners lately. Most we see are 89 or so & newer, I feel like, but there are bunch of early 80s owners popping up on the forum lately.

Welcome to the happy family of fibreglass clamshell trialers, If you're looking for Bigfoot info don't forget the 'Bigfoot Owners International Club' - as well they have manufacturer specific rallies where you can pick up lots of info and talk to owners - in Canada and U.S. - it's often an excuse for a trip!

Hey Zach, it only says B16 on the info sheet that is in the closet door, not sure what the difference is between the B16 or B17, maybe just a few options?

Seems like there is lots of bigfoots for sure! Ive found a few people on instagram that have built 1980's ones, popular item right now!

Lots of work to be done though. Thought only the back window glazing had to be replaced which is hard to find, but now The one seal for the back driver side window is leaking decent. Sent a email to sunview windows so hopefully i can get an answer soon!

Huh! I learned something new. My question was an indirect attempt to get you to realize you were mistakenly calling a 17 a 16, but I'm the one who was mistaken!

I didn't realize a 16 had ever existed.

We're going to need some photos soon.

I'm thinking it is a B17 though cause Ive never seen another B16 when we were searching for one. Ill have to dive more into it and see what differences there are if it actually is a B16.

I guess it could have been a typo. Who knows.

B16 or 17

Well I can tell you that the first trailer made in 1978 was a 17Ft Goucho, that was the only mould that they had. If they even made a B16 there would have to of been a mould made first than the trailer. And the B17 was the same mould up until 2005 when the 17 ft became the 17.5. Older Bigfoot is 1978 other is 2004. They look pretty close except for their age difference.

Also new Lil Bigfoot owners

We also just purchased our 2003 17 ft Lil Bigfoot from the Lower 48 and drove it back to Alaska two weeks ago. We really enjoyed our travels north and are looking forward to many more years of Bigfoot joy! We had been looking at both Bigfoot and Casitas for a couple of years and debating the pro's and con's of both. But the Bigfoot turned out to be the right trailer for us so we are happy that we made the choice to buy the Bigfoot. Previously we owned a 1983 Class C while our kids were young and which we later sold after they were grown. I was a bit concerned about "downsizing" to the Bigfoot 17 footer, but our maiden voyage proved that my concerns were unfounded. It's great to have this web site for help and info. Thanks to all who make it possible and share their collective wisdom for the benefit of others.
