Triple E Surfside Window Sealant

Hey everybody,

I’m new to the group. Just purchased an old surfside, and it appears a couple of the windows have leaks. I popped one of the windows out today and it was sealed between the window flange and fibreglass body with some sort of gray, rubberized, super stretchy sealant. Not sure what it is. I’ve attached a couple pics. Anybody know what it is, and whether or not this might be the best solution for sealing? Thanks.

In addition to the butyl tape I’d like to use an edge sealant as well around the outside edge of the window. I live in a fairly harsh climate so I’m pretty sure I’ll need that extra layer of protection. Any recommendations on type of sealant to use?

This is the best stuff I’ve found. No silicone, comes in white or clear.

Just remember, clear doesn't stay clear for long and then it turns a grungy browish-green that doesn't scrub/wash off.

That stuff looks like it’ll do the trick. I was thinking about using Amazing Goop Marine, but this stuff looks like it may be a better product. Thanks for the help!

You might also want to consider Dicor (BT-1834-1) 1/8" x3/4" x 30' for the Butyl Seal Tape and the Dicor 551LSW1 Non Sag Roof Lap Sealant. I have used both and they do the job. I see that you are a Canadian so they are available through Amazon.ca. And no I am not a Dicor salesman!

Thanks Mark, I actually used Butyl Tape under the window screwing flanges, and then edge sealed around the perimeter of the window with Sashco Lexel sealant. Hope it works!
