Attaching upper cabinets to boler...

Hi! Our 1973 boler is sans kitchen - also sans upper cabinets and structural support on that side. They built a bench seat along the wall where the kitchen was. The p.o also built a beautiful set of permanent bunks which seem to provide support for the walls, but our number one priority is supporting the roof.

We’re planning to build a twin to the closet, and put it on that side, but we’re unsure on the best way to securely attach it to the body! I’ve seen a few different ideas from combing the forum, but wondered if anyone has some sound advice

Thank you!

Inside the closet you can remove a section of the wall covering. Then use epoxy into which you mix some structural strength fibers and put that onto the back of some hardwood blocking and fix it to the inside of the shell. You can then screw your cabinet to that blocking. Be sure you drill a starter hole for the screw in the blocking so that you don't split the blocking when you put a screw into it. Also watch grain direction when you install the blocking, you don't want to be putting screws into end grain of the block.
