I acquired a basic (regular cabinets, no bath)
Scamp 13 in excellent condition from my brother in law's parents. It is 100% original and well taken care of. I'm a solo traveler and plan to use it a couple of months a year. I still need to get a tow vehicle, but that will wait until spring (likely new Outback or Sienna). I am planning what I want to do with it. Since I'll be traveling for extended periods, there are a few things I want to change. Here are a few I am considering....if you have other suggestions, please let me know!
1.
Paint, laminate or replace the cabinet doors.
2. Replace the carpet/flooring (floor is solid) with something solid surface.
3. Add
solar and an extra
battery (not sure the easiest way)
4. Make a permanent bed out of the top (or bottom) bunk with a memory foam mattress cut to shape/size (should work as I am 5'5").
5. Add shelving and/or pull outs for closet.
6. Maybe replace 3 way
fridge (currently works on 12VDC and shore power only) with a high efficiency 12VDC/110AC compressor chest refrig. Not sure that is practical unless I put it where the bottom bunk is now.
7. .....and replace the caps on the rivets....they are almost all gone.
