Trailer: 1979 Trillium 4500

I'm looking to buy a f.g. trailer, either 13-15' or a small 5th. I am currently on the trail of what is advertised as a 1986 Perris Pacer 19' 5th wheel. I know nothing about the trailer or brand, but recognised it as being one that made fibreglass trailers, so I thought it was worth checking out. The seller tells me that it is not a fibreglass, the exterior, is covered with Alum. siding but he says he knows nothing about the trailer itself, he bought it out of a self storage place and is looking to resell. Is there anybody out there who could tell me anything about Perris Pacer 5th's, good and bad, whether they made non fibreglass or not, I'm going to have a look at this particular one this evening, so any info would be appreciated.

That would probably have been made by Perris Valley Campers, the same folks who later built the Pacer. They also built pickup caps. I didn't know they made stick-built trailers too, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The only 5th wheel Peria Pacer I am aware of are fiberglass. But like Roger says thay made stick built stuff so I suppose it could be a stickie. Let us know what you find out about the trailer it could prove interesting.

I believe that the Internet ad Lee cites is several years old. A prospective buyer posted here with questions when the ad was current. I think he/she didn't get the trailer because of tow vehicle concerns. The album photo came from that ad.

Perris Pacer and most of the fiberglass trailers use stock appliances and parts that are typically interchangeable between similar trailers of the of the same vintage. FG trailers are not as susceptible to rot and leaks as their stick counterparts. That being said, seams, window and vent openings should be checked for aged caulking and water intrusion. With these trailers most of the stuff that could be broken is easily repaired or updated. Customizing them is part of the fun of owning one.

Now that I think about it, I think Perris Pacer only made fiberglass 5th wheels for about three years. So considering that the ad copied here is for a 1978, your 1986 could very well be a Perris Pacer. But as others have said, it doesn't happen to be one of their fiberglass firth wheels.

Well, I went, I looked and.....it weren't fibreglass. It is a Perris Pacer though, not the worlds greatest layout, really cramped by the entrance-closet-bathroom doors. Somebody else can have the fun of bringing that one back to life. So the search continues. Thanks for all the info, everyone.

Dawn,

Are you interested in a Bigfoot 5th? I got a lead on one out west.

Thanks Roy, but I just bought a 13' Trillium in good shape for a great price. We've only had it for a week but are already doing a few minor repairs and modifications. The trailer will work out better for me because we don't lose out on the carrying capacity of the truck w/canopy. We're really looking forward to being able to just hook up and get away from the rat race.
