Painting the Cloud

Hi! We're new to this! I'm wondering how often people paint their trailers themselves rather than have it professionally painted? We're getting started with renovating our Cloud and are trying to do as much ourselves as a fun project together. Any advice?

*We LOVE our new little Cloud!*

I think a lot of people here have gone the DIY route with painting. The hardest part is the paint prep, really. My dad and I did some extensive body work and a LOT of sanding to get my Burro ready for its paint job. We went with an auto body shop for the paint work, doing all the prep including primer ourselves.

But if you read around the site, there are lots of threads from folks who done their own painting and have gotten great results.

i have no reall data ,but,,,that never stops me from proffessing the truth. you would almost think i was from washington d.c.

anyway,,, i think most all the people i have seen here talking about it paint their own.
if you decide to take a look at a websight called "good old boats"
or "fiberglassics " another old boat site. people have been repainting fiberglass boats for decades and they really have it down. while many of the paints they use are overkill on a trailer, since they have to survive 24/7 emersion on water...they still apply to getting a good solid protective and nice looking finish on a fiberglass trailer.

ir you can do the prep work and have earl schieb squirt some paint on it and it will mosty likely last as long and look as good as anything else you can do.
just depends how much work you feel like doing.

just remember,,,sometimes the best tool in your toolbox,,,,,is your check book.
