Is buying a reconditioned Boler frame worth it?

Hello,

As the thread title says: Is buying a used reconditioned or repaired Boler 1300 frame worth it?

There are a few in my area for 500-600 dollars CDN, and a new frame is 3000+.

Obviously the used frame wouldn't last as long as a new one, and a new axle would still be recommended.

I know that a repaired frame might be uneven from it's previous life, but are there ways to check for this? Is there any other stand out reason to avoid something like this?

I purchased a spare Trillium 1300 frame for $300 Cdn. I have no regrets, but I own two Trillium 1300's. One has what I call a C-channel frame, with a leading swing arm axle.

Hi Kevin there is a very good chance the frame won't last, as you know there 40 to 51 years old, age and road stress will have taken its toll, and so would the torsion axle, We are just doing a run of three 1300 Boler frames $2700.00, so they come with some nice features,like a rear tire mount, 2x 2 bike rack ready sleeve, a 2200 pound fully adjustable torsion axle 2" a coupler, h/d safety chains with quick release hooks, a quality tongue jack plus some better mounting points that are not drilled through the frame. Something to think about before buying used.
