81 13ft Scamp axle's junk!!! St Cloud, MN
Ok my axle is shot on my 13ft Scamp, Scamp told me $469 i believe for a axle with brakes and $150 to install sounds pretty high to me, and i looked and its welded on of coarse and i was hoping it was bolted on but no luck, i seen in a past post guy recommended making it a bolt on but i cant see how that could be done since its a box frame and not a channel, doesnt seem to be a very thick frame either i noticed so im gonna start calling around town here and see what other options are i guess, so just looking for some advice or options

The folks at Outback / Trillium welded a block to my frame that the axle bolts to. I will post pictures.

$619 every twenty-thirty years doesn't sound too bad.

Here is what we did to our Boler when we bought a new axle. It is a 2x2 block that allows for our axle to be bolted in.

Every time I feel that way, I cruse kijiji in the RV section. I notice that the combined cost of my van and trailer, including all improvements to date, is less then the vast majority of the RV's, trailers, or motor-homes, for sale.
And my axle is simmillar to bomni's. (its snowing outside)

That axle listed on Ebay has a good price, but it didn't show the shipping cost.
Also you want to make sure the dimensions for wheel width & brackets that mount it to the frame are right.
Northern Tool lists an axle like that for $225. Would have to check dimensions.
I presently need to replace the axle on my 16' Casita. Factory wanted $529 + $150 shipping to Houston, or $90/hr (4hr) to install. I found a trailer place locally that wants $369 for the axle, and install @ $65/hr. I plan to have them do it if they can promise not to burn down the trailer from welding sparks.
