Although we enjoy camping in the Scamp, old habits are hard to break and we still sneak off for a weekend of car camping or even an overnight backpack from time to time. We spent Memorial Day weekend tenting on Portsmouth Island (Cape Lookout NS). Twentyfile miles of pristine beach with no permanent residents (except the wildlife) and accessible only by boat.

It is not cheating on your egg at all, it is cheating on yourself if you don't do this.
My first love is the great outdoors, my preference is always the backcountry. I still love to do stuff like 7-10 day canoe trips where you see nothing else but maybe a few people doing the same thing. Getting away from electricity, phones, computers and the like is truly the only real way I can escape.
For me buying my egg was a way to further explore this whole continent in the years to come. My canoe will always be with me for those side trips I so enjoy.

We bought the trailer so that we would have comfortable accommodations while on road trips. But we never thought of it as a replacement for tent camping. We love to camp in places that you can't drive to. We still need our tents for river floats, backpacking trips and bush plane lakes. There's nothing better than being alone in the wilderness every now and then.

With a tent in the backcountry you get to eliminate all noise, no traffic for miles. I get the best sleeps then. I have a down filled air mattress that has improved my comfort level for sleeping in a tent by a hundred fold.

My wife and I took eight weeks to travell from Ontario to the west coast and back. [over 6000 miles] We packed her Honda Civic with camping gear and an 8x10 tent and away we went. we figured that if we could get along that way riding elbow to elbow and come home alive and still speaking, then we could have another 40 years together. Fantastic trip.

We are considering doing so next year if we drive to Alaska to visit our son. We may "cheat" by sleeping in the camper shell of our pickup or maybe use a tent at times. But have not done so yet. But it is SOOOO nice having a room with a shower/head/galley and A/C when you need it plus a micowave.

Does taking a cruise count as cheating on your egg?

We just spent the past weekend camping with my two grandsons and their parents. Mary and I used our tent (see picture). We can't bring ourselves to let the grandkids know we've gone soft and camp in the Trillium other times.

I have no plans to get rid of my tents, I like the egg I bought ,but I camp along the rivers using my boat, hunting places my little egg wont go.. Now that said, I do plan to cheat on my tent some this winter I can feel the warmth already..It will be nice for fishing trips tho... we are going on our maiden trip this weekend its our 9th Annivesary.. My wife and I love to Trout Fish.. So we are headed to the White River below Bull Shoals Dam to fish, up till now we have tent camped and we love that to, but we getting older and the A/C is gonna be nice.... Next, I want a hitch put on the back of the rig so I can also pull our jonboat.. :

I don't car-tent camp anymore. Not with the Casita. But I still go backpacking. Does that count as "cheating"?
My wife wants to take a short trip to WV in three weeks to go whitewater rafting. But she doesn't want us to take the Casita. Instead she wants to rent one of those little one-room cabins. So I guess that counts as "cheating" on our beloved Casita.
