hey took the plunge and drove home a 76 scamp last night....

it came from New Mexico...and i met the owner in Arizona and drove back.....

it tracked real nice

i will be posting pictures here real soon....just got up..want to take care of the dmv today and have the tires looked at...

though everything worked out great...........it needs lots of cleaning........and the most important part..which i will find out shortly if it fits in my garage....

i allready have a note on the windshield of my truck..im in HOA territory..and its only been outside on the street for less than 8 hours

well off to the autoclub i go....

My garage door opening is 81" My 13' Scamp fit in the garage before I replaced the axle, now I have to take the wheels and hubs off to get in the garage. Good luck with your new scamp, keep us posted on all the updates you do . Also we love to see pictures.

Look on the ( sides sometimes) of tongue or maybe a "build sheet" glued inside a cabinet or closet.

Tell us more about your new Scamp! Did it fit in your garage???? We live with an HOA, too. I see your neighbors didn't waste any time. (Geesh)

pictures as promised..........

i had to paint the front and rear bumper and clean the rims............and tires.......had tires checked out..all good...spare repaired slow leak

i took the cushions out they were messed up..ripped...went right to a upholstery shop..will have them back thursday

re tinted the front and back windows....

and started major cleaning...........its full of dirt...desert rig......

then the big question......will it fit......yes... in the garage that is.....

tomorrow i will work on the electrical......the fridge that is

I guess you're not wasting any time getting started with your work on the trailer

I love the last shot, with the garage door down. HOA, eat your heart out!

Just curious: How much extra room did you have in getting into the garage? (Thinking about how much leeway you have if/when you get a new axle).

i had a bout 6 inches of room...maybe more once in the garage... lots of room....i can keep the vent up and pull it out...

so for now ok....i will post more pictures after i get my cushions in and finish cleaning.........the dirt is unreal.....but i can tell the difference allready..the inside smells clean....i guess im weird i dont know...but u could tell it was dirty from the start... so thats why the cushions had to go...

i have a vanilla aroma candle burning in there right now.........

regarding the outside..thats going to be a project..i can see all the scamp emblems under a coat of white..so i dont know if they painted them over?

il be happy once i get the fridge to work... and the lighting figured out...

i saw it working off the guys truck but it does not connected to mine..possible wiring problem.....the interior 12 volt lights dont work when hooked up to my truck... so maybe they wired it wrong? the 7 wire plug that is on my truck

back to cleaning....

Well cool! If you have six inches to spare, you ought to be okay even with a new axle. That's good news!

It's not just you --- I go nuts cleaning the inside of a new-to-me trailer (or car, or etc.). I mean, of course I like it clean; but more important is that any dirt is my dirt

Nice fit, good canvas for you to work with. RE: dirt. We are from NM but our newer Scamp has been very good about keeping the dust & dirt out. I believe besides the age difference, the Jalousie windows, often referred to as Louvered windows is why it was so full of dirt. They are neat in letting in more air, even when raining but they also leak air & dust when closed.

I wonder if they have to leak air and dust, or if it's a matter of whether they are in shape to close tightly, with fresh lip seals, etc.?

Mine close tightly - with a "snap" to them - and the seals seem to be in reasonable shape (although I may still replace them with new seals when I get a chance). I haven't had dust be a problem yet, although I haven't gone 500 miles on dirt roads or anything.

I'm an admitted fan of jalousies, and so I wonder if they are being given a fair shake, assuming they are nearly 40 years old on some rigs, and that the owners have not replaced the seals (there are seals on the end of the "flaps.").
