Built-in Battery Condition indicators are notoriously inaccurate and you wind up over using your battery. Best bet to me is the Voltminder (voltminder.com) for less than $40. It's an accurage digital display and you can set alarm limits to let you know if you are getting low. It also lets you know if your TV is charging through the connection as well.
.................In terms of battery installation in cars, I used to own an 1984 Audi 5000. The battery was under the back seat. No vent.
My 1964 VW also had the battery under the back seat - that is until I hit a big bump. Initially I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start, then I saw the cables hanging through the hole in the floor.
Check Costco prices for their group 27 Deep Cell I picked one up a couple of years ago for a good price. If you travel a lot using Costco is good option as they are located pretty well everywhere - goes bad they will take it back no questions asked. Although I have not had any issues with the performance on mine and it has been used a lot.
I'd love to use Costco but we only have Sams club here. Closest Costco is over an hour away. (and that's distance not traffic)
Thx for the dimensions. I think a 27 might be the largest I can fit without a new enclosure. The 12v golf cart battery is $100 more than the deep cycle marine one. So I may stick with the marine 27.

Group 27 deep cycle is what I'm looking at.. The group 29 I attempted to put in was a little to large for the box.
