UHaul / Burro Sink Shelf
I decided to add a shelf behind the sink and stove on my UHaul. The Burro is so similar that I'm sure the same technique would work. In a previous post, I showed my overhead shelves.
I decided to continue with this theme using 3/16" underlayment for the shelf painted with exterior grade mildew resistant enamel colored to match the gel coat. The framing is L shaped extruded aluminum with an anodized finish (see cross section in photo).
The shelf is supported with aluminum L brackets attached to the wall with 3M VHB tape.
- The first picture shows the shelf in place.
- Second picture shows shelf from angle view.
- Third picture shows the topside.
- Fourth picture shows the bottom side.
- Fifth picture shows the shelf cross section.
- Sixth picture shows the mitered corner that allowed the aluminum to be bent into a corner.

Nice work, there Tom...I'm impressed with your craftsmanship!
Was that left over extrusion from a window or did you purchase it for this project? What's the weight rating on the 3M VHB tape you used?

Thanks. I picked up the extrusion at my local metal recycler. It appears to be new but maybe blemished or seconds or ???? Cost was $1 for 10 feet. The adhesive I used is 3M 4941 which is rated at 85# / square inch. I used 4 brackets with about 3 square inches each. Should hold a ketchup bottle.

This shelf mod is very, very nice and functional! Good for you Tom I'm betting we see more of these in U-Hauls AND Burros.
