We visited the Scamp Camp the last two days. It feels good to see all the Scamps and other FRVs huddled under the trees and to meet so many people who's posts I've read.

Plan to return Wednesday morning.

Fifth Wheel Heavan

The Scamp Camp has all kinds of fiberglass trailers but mostly Scamps. There are more Scamp 5th wheels at the Scamp Camp than I ever imagined existed.

I'm sure the Scamp 13 is the most popular, I think partially because of the somewhat imagined tow vehicle issue, but definitely there are enormous number of Scamp 19s. I know myself that I would have probably bought a 19 if I already owned a truck.

The Scamp Camp is fun. Yesterday we sat in on Floyd's technical discussion, just seeing his smiling face and witty comments is enough reason to visit the Scamp Camp. As well it's great to meet all the people who are 'modern pen pals' on the forum.

There's something special about rallies, meeting like people with like ambitions. I don't know that I've ever met a sour person at a rally....well maybe one....

Scamp Camp

We spent parts of three days at the Scamp Camp putting faces to FRV posters. Unfortunately this is a very busy week in our campground with lots of associated responsibilities for me since I run the kitchen this year, preventing us from camping at the rally.

Regardless we had a great time chit chatting with folks. Yesterday we had a group visit our campground, to see our Scamp and see what an Escapee campground is like. It was great fun trailer and travel talk dominating the afternoon. We have a few more Scamp Campers coming next week.

If you want to Escape the winter next year consider the Scamp Camp.

I would like to thank all the nice folks who took time today to share their knowledge and trailers with my wife and I (new Casita owners) and our friends who are considering moving from their popup to a FGRV. Hopefully, we will be able to camp next year. Good Folks!

Kit Bash

I'm hoping to see images of everyone's creative kit bash entries on the last day of Scamp Camp. I had to leave a few hours before judging, and wanted to see all the creative reinventions! Can those who took photos of the bash results please post images? I'd appreciate it.

2015, Feb. 9-15: Florida Scamp Camp

Francie and I really enjoyed meeting everyone and all of the various activities at Scamp Camp.

Sadly, on Feb 14th through the 16th, it wasn't much fun fighting our way past winter storm
Octavia on the way back to the KC metro. A few hours after we passed through Memphis
and St Louis, they both had nearly a foot of snow on the ground. Other potential routes home
had freezing rain and ice.

We drove hard to get north and west of the worst of the storm. We really feel that we were
quite fortunate/blessed and that we "dodged a bullet" to be able to get home without serious
consequences.

We sure wish we could have stayed in Sebring for a while longer!

Ray

Thanks. I just sent him a PM. I'll need the photos for an article by the first week of March, and another Scamp couple already delivered my model and prizes to me in Long Pine Key Campground. I love the tight Scamp community!

Nice Folks at Scamp Camp

Thank-You to all the nice folks at Scamp Camp in Sebring, FL. They really made our first outing with the Eggcamper enjoyable. We plan on returning next year.

I'll second that! We camped in Sebring just after Scamp Camp, and were fortunate to meet some of the folks who were still there. Floyd and Debbie, Tom and JoAnne- you guys are a wealth of knowledge, and great neighbors, too. Great to see all of the Scamps, Casitas, Escapes, and another ParkLiner like us. Hi, Nancy and Steve! Fiberglass people are the best!

Here are some of the kitbash photos. These folks had some really cool and imaginative creations! Keep in mind that they all started with the same balsa wood model aircraft kit and were instructed to make anything but a model aircraft.

Ray, Glad to hear you made it back OK. We had to do the same thing last year (head North into yucky weather) but were finally able to head South this year since I'm now retired. The Everglades and Keys both got cool, but not nearly as cold as up North!
Has Francie adjusted to retirement yet?
