We're looking into getting a Frontier as our next TV and just wondering how yours is handling the extra weight and maneuvering with the tandem axles.
Hi: War Eagle... The mirrors are from 1A Auto : Aftermarket Auto Parts, Car Body Parts, Replacement & New Automobile and Truck Parts | Buy Discount Car & Auto Parts Online They are powered/ heated and extend. Simple swap out, plug and play. I put them on in prep for the 5.0TA and glad I did. Fronty is doing just fine with the new 5.0TA. Taking the mountain passes in the slow lanes, and pushing back up hill at home isn't a problem either. I don't want to give up my Fronty just yet.

It was great to meet you Alf and to put a face to the name. Donna, ask Alf what he was doing on Thursday night with a hack saw. Lol

Alf, I'm envious! I hope you get to enjoy the hell out of it! I'm hoping when I get closer to retirement age for one of these!

Hi: Marinab... Nice to meet you too. Sorry I was to busy giving 5 cent tours to come by and see your "Biggar/Escape".
The hacksaw was used for the first "Reace approved" modification!!!
We drove out to Surrey BC. and got a S/S Spitfire 180 BBQ at Dickinson Marine. Some assembly required. It was 1/2" to tall to fit in the new storage hatch, and Reace showed me how they adjust the opening flange for the propane bottles. A quick trip to the great Home Hardware in Osoyoos for a hacksaw and some magnetic driver bits etc etc... and presto "It fits"!!!
You never know when company drops in.

Hi: Roy in TO... I think there might be some rules about accessibility of the fire ext. in the RV building code. This new one is in the same local as the Escape 5.0's one.

Hi: steve dunham... Thanks. Here's a couple of pic,s. One with my wife sitting on the bed of the 5.0 and one of the new 5.0TA sans wife. The new trailer roof is 5" higher and now has a 13X22" moon/sunroof. It's a lot more open and bright. Hope this helps!!!

Alf, here are some on this link. Even the ones without doors would keep the extinguisher accessable, yet recessed in the wall.

Hi: Roy in TO... Thanks for the link. I don't mind the location or the mount, and the white ext. looks better than the red one in the 5.0. My only hope is I never have to access it to put out a fire!!!

Very nice rig Alf S. congratulations! Having never had experience with 5th Wheels I assume one renders their tow vehicle bed, (in this case by necessity a pickup) rather useless? By that I mean you don't simply take the hitch mechanism in or out at will? What are the main advantages of 5th wheel vs a traditional trailer with frame mounted hitch?

Thanks and hope you keep enjoying your great new rig.

Rob

Hi: Rob Outlaw... 1st and foremost advantage is ease of hook up.
2nd is positive tow. Hitch located directly over the rear axle, not behind the vehicle. Look at all the 18 wheelers on the road.
The hitch can be removed from the truck box if required.
Our 5.0TA is 20' 2" long. 98% of that length is useable space vs. tongue space.
