Which cover should I buy for my 16' Scamp

Just ordered our 2015 16' Standard (layout 4).

Very excited for it to arrive in a few days!

Question: which cover do you recommend? It will be stored outdoors in San Jose, CA.

I've been referred to CalMark Custom Covers. Sounds like they make a great cover, but the price is steep ($621 including tax).

Anything less expensive out there that is still decent?

There's an eBay seller offering a waterproof cover with zipper access to the door for $160 shipped (link to ad; or search on "Deluxe Scamp 16' travel trailer Camper Cover"). The shop is called "elitemotoronline" and they have good ratings on eBay, but I'd love to hear first hand feedback.

Hi Charlie, I'm sure you'll get answers on this as a few members have purchased covers on Ebay. Most of the replies I've seen or remember weren't to good for holding up long. For the $650 price you could just about put up a carport.

We have used a Calmark cover on our 16'er up here at 8,300' in the Colorado mountains for nearly 8 years. While it's showing some wear, I expect many more years of use. So far that's less than $100 / year to protect the trailer. I tend to cover the trailer at the end of a trip if we're not going to use it again for greater than 2 weeks.

Based on what I've been hearing, the eBay version typically only lasts a season, maybe two at the most. I'd also be concerned that a cheaply-constructed cover might have poorly-finished under surfaces that could damage the gelcoat on a brand-new trailer. You may want to bite the bullet on this one.

Don't buy any cover. You don't need it in a warm dry climate.
