Mattress Suggestions for a Scamp 16

We have a Scamp 16 which has the front 2 seat dining table. We leave the larger, rear one made up for our bed at all times. I have some permanent lower back issues which makes it uncomfortable to say the least sleeping on the seat cushions and a 3 inch thick memory foam on top of that.

We would welcome suggestions of sources of mattresses which would fit in the rear bed area that offer more in terms of comfort and support. We are not sure where to begin to search. If we could find one that is suitable we would store the seat cushions and use it.

Thank you in advance for assistance anyone can offer.

Southern Mattress in North Carolina makes a custom fit mattress for Casita campers. We have one and really like it. They may make one for a Scamp too. Check with them.

The next step up is a custom mattress, or a shell to use your existing cushions with a topper. This is what I have. Quality is 8 on scale 1-10. I do sleep well with it. See:

There is at least one other manufacturer of custom mattress for a Scamp (Or Casita) but in either case check on the companies current status as I have not kept up with it.. https://www.southernmattressnc.com/casita-mattress.htm

Before you go for a one piece mattress, consider the need to get into the compartments under there. We had a 16 DLX Side Dinette. got along well enough with a foam topper. It could be folded over to one side or the other to get into the storage spaces. But, I also added a small cargo door on the outside of the left rear space, to carry my hoses, cords, blocks & tools.
A one piece mattress may be too difficult to get in the door.
