Oh my gosh, it's an update!!

Well, after sitting for more than a year as sort of a storage shed, work has begun again!

When last we left our hero, we were working on replacing the tail lights with the original tophat style ones. This led us to discover 2 things. One: the wiring in the trailer was...... interesting, and Two: the upper floor section was rotten around the edges. We had intended at that time to get another sheet of plywood and start on it right away, but that didn't happen for one reason and another.

We were leaning towards taking the rat fur out before, but the wiring "repairs" that had been made at some point made the decision easier, since all that stuff is underneath the wall covering. So over the last couple of weeks, we got the materials for doing the floor section, cut the original one into 2 pieces and got it out of the trailer after a small nightmare with the screws . between those and the fiberglass tabs that were holding the shell to it, we were able to make a pretty decent template.

I also started tracing\diagramming all the wacky wires to see where everything went, which was a lot of fun. Got all the cabinets removed and the rat fur is now gone from everything but the inside of the door.

Today, the upper floor section finally went in! Still have to redo the shell attachment, but the hard part is done at least

Hopefully updates will continue regularly. If not, someone should come and us.

Good luck. You are past the hump it seems so thing will go more quickly now. If you break down the tasks into small steps and maintain forward progress you will be done soon.

finally taking the plunge and patching up the holes that were cut in the side for an air conditioner and closet vent. first time doing something like this so it's a scary, hoping not to mess it up! seems to be going well so far though.

it's a bit tricky because of the holes going right up to the belly band and wheel well pieces, but we tapered the areas around them the best we could and got the gelcoat in today. tomorrow the mat\cloth goes in. (fingers crossed!) It looks like the gelcoat went in nice and smooth, but probably going to end up doing a bit more work on the outside because of the color difference between the new and oxidized whites... and the yellow (rusty residue?) spots around the smaller hole where the vent was.

ignore the use of cabinet as way to keep pressure against part next to belly band where taping is difficult :-D
