UHaul Counter Extension

This post is to show how I added a 12" x 18" counter extension to the right of my stove on my CT13.

Not wanting to to drill any holes in the fiberglass, I mounted the brackets to a 5.5" x 10" aluminum plate, which I attached to the counter with two sided tape . Because the fiberglass is not perfectly flat, I slit the plate most of the way vertically, to allow enough flex to ensure full contact between the surfaces. The brackets are screwed to the plate using stainless screws into tapped holes, ground flush on the back side and set with Loctite.

The cutting board is from Walmart with a "ditch" around the perimeter to keep any wetness from running off the extension onto the cushions. The folding brackets (Woodcraft 129844) allow me to snap the extension upright with one hand and quickly fold it vertical with the two releases on the end of the brackets.

The double sided tape is 3M 414P tape "Extreme", which is supposed to be 4 times as strong as their "outdoor" tape, with which I've had good luck.

Hopefully the cook will like it!
