I remembered three more VTs: Matt's in SF, one in Canada, and the other one in NY that used to be Mike Szabo's.

Thanks all for your comments about the hitch. That's what we thought - if it works and it's sturdy, then don't touch it.

Thanks for the welcome and the information you provided. I'm always searching on the web for ideas - how-to's - as well as parts.

I did some research and put together a list to start. figured we should stop relying on aging braincells.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, the hitch is integral to the master cylinder assembly for the hydraulic brakes. So, it is critical to make sure it all slides properly and that the brakes work.

Had to chuckle at your disclaimer about "influence of painkillers." Hope you are OK, though.
By the way, on your list, what is a UHaul resistration site? Is that where UHaul owners resist all other trailers?

Ami had one in CA if he still has it. He used to post frequently and is the person who originally found where to get the right shaped window gasket material. Also the lady in Canada who dug her VT out of the mud, was going to sell to Roy in Toronto, and then backed out of the deal. And the lady in NY who bought Mike Szabo's camper. She belongs to this forum.
There was a guy in Nebraska who had one that was pretty original. His son was towing it and somehow broke one of the rear lenses. He tried to find a lense and then ended up selling it, I want to say to someone in North Dakota. That person has never surfaced either here or on uhaulcamper.com.

I bought headliner fabric from JoAnns a fabric stor chain around here. Cut refletrex a bubble wrap insulation available at Lowes to the width I wanted double thick section. Uses the good 3M spray contact cement to spray backside of the headliner and 1 layer of refletrex, wraped the headliner around refletrex and glued. Glued the 2 reflex trip layers together . Got hook and loop Velcro. From perfect fit or you could get it from fabric store. Glued about 3' sections at window ends and near AC for access to wiring then sprayed middle sections well with contact cement an corresponding refletrex stuck it up an velcroed the end s up.

I know you have a U-Haul, but the Burro is so similar... maybe these will give you inspiration:
Pam Garlow's Grasscloth
Scott B Wood Strips
Mike's Bamboo Ceiling

Deb/Ron,
Looks like you may have larger tires than usual. Was your axle changed? Nice looking from the outside. I also sent you a PM.
