I have heard that an anode rod does no good in a Scamp water heater because it is lined. But last year I decided that for $5 it could not hurt anything. A year later it is showing some erosion. Does that mean that it is helping??
Doesn't appear to be doing much, if anything, but a lot depends on the water in the tank. Some locales eat an anode in six months. Mine last six years, or more.

A lined tank (Suburban) can use an anode, but it if it is an aluminium tank like the Atwood no anode.
There are always micro cracks in the glass and the Anode will help protect the steel, but aggravate corrosion with the aluminum.
