Just about to reinstall polished windows back into the openings. Original construction used 7\8 wood screws through exterior frame, FG, and 3\4 inch plywood. Worked well where the plywood did not rot.
Has anyone used an alternative method like 1 inch SS machine screws with nylon locking nut. Machine screws would be more work but bombproof.

Thx
I went with 1 inch ss screws into 3\4 plywood backing. Also applied a sealant to edge of plywood in case of moisture penetration. Hung window with several screws to line up existing holes in FG and window. Once aligned predrilled remaining holes before applying poly butyl tape to back of window casing. Then remove window and apply poly butyl tape then put window back in place and screw all screws down. Snugged the screws down until poly butyl tape oozed out. Then trim excess tape.
