Last weekend I bough an Amerigo 1972 camper

Here is a picture where the propane heater is located.

I was wondering if this is the correct location from factory.

Any help will be appreciated

That heater would not have been made in 1972.

The "correct" location depends on the specific furnace or heater. What may have been correct for the OEM furnace may not work for a non-OEM replacement. The place to start is the installation manual. It will specify clearances, and that will determine where it can be safely installed.

Hi, Falicea: OK. Stevebaz is correct, that furnace was not made or installed in the amerigo in 1972. Or 1973. The original factory "furnace" originally was part of the stove/oven. It was a 3-way propane stove/oven/furnace. They came from the factory that way, but at one point the furnace in the oven was found to be leaking CO2 and had to be disconnected. This looks like a later add-on. There was no separate furnace in the Amerigos so there is no factory location.

Congrats on getting a 1972 amerigo...a vintage classic and relatively rare. Although we know they are out there, we've never seen a 2nd one in person. Hope one day to do so.

I will appreciate and value you opinion.

I have a few questions. I’m also new on this.

I want to redone my camper but I don’t really know how to start.

This camper doesn’t have battery from factory.
All the electric work also the stove and fridge.
Is necessary have battery on it or I can use e small Honda generator when I’m in a place the is not electric available?

where can the seals I need to redone the windows?
Also can I change the windows for new ones?
If is yes where can I purchase them from.

At the top of each page on FGRV is a "search" icon. If you will click on that, it will give you a menu. At the BOTTOM, write down a few key words of what you want to know about. You will find dozens or more whole threads about that topic.

For example: "search" -- menu comes down. You type in, "replace windows" and there are all kinds of places on FGRV of years of experience and wisdom from many people on that topic.

Try searching for 1973 brown amerigo begins new life with photos. by typing it into Search. This isn't a link--the other one takes you to page 3; you need to start at page 1, anyway.

It's not that great, but it's not bad. There are plenty of other amerigo rebuilds you can find though Search on FGRV.

I'm not super at the internet; so I hope you have success finding some helpful things.

I talked to Paul (husband) who did the wiring in Peanut; he said you can get away with using a generator IF you don't have 12V lights etc...in which case you'd need a converter? (Change 110 to 12V) as well as just the generator, which may have that included depending on which one you buy. We don't have a generator but do have a device that changes 110 to 12V that charges our two batteries, which run our lights and our fan. We stick to shore power and so far have been OK. We don't have propane. I want some 12V plug-ins and then some of the many cool things they sell that run off 12V (our lights and Fan-Tastic Vent fan run off 12V). We do have a 12V electric blanket, though it's very small and doesn't get super warm...but it's nice; designed for the car 12V outlet. I understand you can even get 12V televisions, though they are pricey.

Actually, I just went to the TV department, and looked for TVs that had a brick style power supply. Then look at the output voltage on the brick, (input will be 120VAC). Find one that outputs 12 VDC. That TV will work. Cut the end that plugs into the TV off and wire it to a 12 VDC source. Be careful of polarity. The one I found was an RCA, (terrible brand). It replaced the tube TV in my van.

We purchased a small TV/DVD combo at a truck stop, and it came with the 120 volt plug with the “brick” to reduce it to 12 volts, and it came with the 12 volt cord that plugs into a 12 volt receptical.
It was not at all expensive.
