All I can say is Holy Cow!!!! We had the roof on our boler collapse from ice but it only bent in. We popped it back up and just had to patched the cracked on the 4 corners. It has a small sag-well now near the vent so we store it on a bit of an angle, and I pack all our linens in Rubbermaid tubs then stack them to the ceiling and shim them to make sure that thing is never going to do that again. We always kept an eye on it in winter but that year we got hit with a nasty blizzard where we got 24" inches of wet snow in one dump. It then froze over night so before we could get outside the damage was done.
I'll be following this one. You have your hands full but lots of luck.

Just noticed this thread! WOW!!

That was one really collapsed roof!

I thought that I had problems with mine, and, it only dips a couple of inches.

Great work, glad to see that you are making progress.

Thank you for the kind words and sorry I haven't posted pictures yet. I bought the trailer in it's broken down state so insurance is out. I've started sanding the new fiberglass on the outside and it's blending pretty well but I think I will probably need a little body filler to level some problem areas. I removed the rear window and repaired the top edge where the cracks met the window. I have also been adding 5" wide strips of fiberglass mat across the inside of the roof to repair some sags that I think were there before the "great cave in". The areas I have repaired are considerably thicker than the original fiberglass and it actually seems stronger than the original. I will post some pics when I feel it's more presentable.

The inside pics look funny since so much more light shows thru the new fiberglass. The outside cracks need just a little more filler in a few areas but are getting close. The shots of the rear show how much damage was done but it is much thicker than the original fiberglass that surrounds it. As mentioned previously, I tied it together from the inside with several layers of glass and then ground out the outside and and leveled it out with glass and resin.

Norm, THANK YOU for posting the in-progress pictures. We have tons of pics of finished projects, but these types of pics will truly be helpful in the future for those members who may be tackling a similar project. Nothing like "seeing" what a member may be facing, truly...

Hey Norm, your trailer is looking great, you are back to the original shape again. I'm sure you are happy with the results. Any plans for altering the interior since you are starting with a clean slate? Keep those pictures coming.

The only thing I can say is WOW! This is not a repair or restoration. It is a resurrection!

Well I can't take all the credit. You did see the tire cover right? I really didn't know where to start but the suggestions offered early on helped immensely . I think grinding off the ensolite adhesive was the worst part so far. I have never been so dirty or itchy. I also struggled with applying the fiberglass overhead at first. I tried whetting the repair area with resin and then sticking the dry 4" wide strips in place and brushing in the resin. I just ended up with a mess with resin running down my brush and my arm, my leg etc. Once I started reducing the strips of mat to a manageable size and whetted them before sticking them to the whetted ceiling with a brush and plastic spreader instead of my gloved hands it went pretty fast. Of course I had to overlap the shorter pieces but I don't think that will hurt anything. I'm trying to get the outside as smooth as I can to reduce the amount of Bondo needed. After the Bondo I'll use a good sealing primer and spray on some type of white marine paint but I don't know which one yet. Still a lot of work to do before then.

Based on those last pictures I'd name it Frankencamper, and the paint job should emphasize the scars.

There are all kinds of paint out there of course, but we have several bolers here in our area, including ours, that have simply used good old TremClad.

I just ran across this and will add a bit.
I have done some glass repair and if you don't feather the edges at least a couple inches back and then fill the feathered edges with glass mat etc, it will be prone to future cracking..
If you haven't done that you can always but a 4" wide strip of glass mat on the inside..
Probably would be a good idea anyway.

It is looking good though for a major rebuild.. Keep up the good work.

If that's the case, about the only thing I'd ever win would be the donut hole.
