A 1988 Bigfoot in decent shape would run about 8k CDN - so the price is bang on from a negotiatiing point.

Well not to put too fine a point on it but there are design line changes that will be noticable once you bring it home and start to compare. 5000+ US seems like a little too much to pay unless the buyer in this case knows the history. eg One owner?
If it has an awning that might be the first thing that needs replacing at about 1000.00
Good luck and don't be hasty.

An oven??!! These things got ovens?
Off to buy mirrors and a wheeled come along thang for the tongue.

Kath! You got the rig? Yeah!
Like Rick says. Pictures! We want pictures!
We also want details. They finally called you back? How did you make the purchase? Sit on their door step!
Oh yeah, did I say we want pictures!

>>knows nothing
Kath, my wife thinks I know nothing, too. But hey, I love her and know she can do no wrong.
So light a couple of candles, put on some music, dress appropriately, and when he walks in the door, say "honey, I was a bad, bad girl today. I bought a trailer!"
He'll love it!
I know I would.

*ZAP!*
So the one thing I forgot to look at on the trailor was the wiring connector. I bought a flat four male to female, figuring I could make an adaptor. The trailor had a round fitting, but I was stuffing wires into it, making the brake lights work and feeling confident that it was all good, when I shorted out the car's rear running lights.
:red
Doug met me at the rig, and was thoroughly impressed by it. He followed me home to give me a little more rear coverage. I'll go back tomorrow with my elder daughter and try to collect the little thang.
Pictures will have to wait until I unearth the connection cable that hooks my camera up to my computer.
It's a B-17 Gaucho, FWIW.
Now to do all the work I didn't do today. Ahh, the joys of self-employment.

Kath ... they make a 4 flat to 7 round connector. Sell them at rv places, camping world, etc.

Thing you have to check is ... does the round connector on the trailer use blade or pin contacts.

I believe it is called a 7 pin Pollack connector on the Big Foot. The pins are flat.
The Gaucho model is very nice. Now my recollection was the Gaucho was Sans fridge?

Kath’s Bigfoot lead
Way to go Kath! Welcome to Bigfoot country! Anxious to know what type of floor plan you have (same as 15B17CB or the 15B17G as shown in the Bigfoot website)? My '84 has the 15B17G plan with Gaucho. Mike T., mine has a fridge (you were wondering if the "Gaucho" came with a fridge?). I'm sure Kath’s Bigfoot will too.

No *zap*
Bought an adaptor that went from male blade fitting to flat four fitting. Fit together great! Unfortunately, it did not make the lights work. All I could get were tail lights. Using two flat four connectors, I stripped the wires and messed around with them, but the best connection I could get was tail lights and brakes. Darn! We'll try again tomorrow and bring it home, even if we can't get the turn signals working.
I am breaking out one of my last bottles of Canadian cider tonight.

Trailer wiring
Kath- what are you using for a tow vehicle- what type of taillights do you have? separate brake and signal or combined?
On my trailer I had to re-connect the tailight wiring so It would work with my van--- the previous owner had an import with separate stop/ turn lamps and I had to make a change at the taillights

Candles in the wind?
Joe,
I'm using a Previa which has never towed anything before. Uhaul hitch, installed a couple weeks ago. When I was just stuffing raw wires from my four flat into the 6 (7?) blade female connection on the trailer, I got brakes, signals and tails all showing-- just not at once. All I get is tails with the adaptor.
Sure is lucky I find this kinda thing entertaining...
