Last weekend, when I was showing a friend my
Burro, the top door hinge came off. Luckily, this happened when it was sitting in my driveway, and not while I was driving. I found some posts on this site that were very helpful. There is a wood block inside the
fiberglass that rotted away. Some people fixed it by cutting the outer
fiberglass shell, and some by cutting the inner
fiberglass. After looking at my
Burro, I decided to cut the inner fiberglass, remove the rotted wood, cut some new wood out of oak scraps I have, fiberglass the wood and re-install it. Then I'll patch over the fiberglass behind the top hinge. The lower hinge is in the compartment below the seats, so I may just give it a rough patch. It will be difficult to cut the fiberglass behind the lower hinge because I'll have to work upside down with my head sticking in the compartment below the seat. But the easy patch job should make up for that.
If anybody has any advice or sees problems with my plan, please let me know.
