Jalousie Window reno - 1974 Trillium 1300

Hi,

All my windows have been pulled to paint the Trill so am also going to give the windows a refresh. Have ordered all gaskets and glazing from Vintage Trailer Gaskets.

Need to replace the torque operators while I am at it and have a few questions:

1 - where is the best place to buy replacements for the Hehr 4901/2 windows? I see them at Vintage Trailer Supply, Interstate RV Metal and Supply and Pelland Enterprises. Just wondering if people have used any of those suppliers and if you were happy with the product and service received.

2 - The original torque operators are held in place with tube rivets. I am wondering how people have attached the new torque operators...pop rivet, bolt and locknuts, tube rivets(which I can find very little information on)

I have 1978 T4500 and would never paint a FG trailer except rare occasions. Why are you painting it? Has it been painted before?

Painting it due to the leaky roof, fibreglassing the roof, covering large areas where gelcoat was worn off completely and the Maxxair installation.

Ditto on Camping Treasures. Also picked mine up there. Just finished redoing the right side, now on to the left

Most local RV dealers have window operators in stock. Just bring the old one so they can provide you with the right model you need. Not very expensive, like $7 or so.

Murray (or anyone else) did you ever find a preferably Canadian source for the Trillium window torque operator?
Do the ones for Boler’s on Camping Treasures site fit, they look smaller?

Sara - here is a link to one of the operators I used from Pelland Enterprises in the US.

Expensive but they are identical to the originals.

You need left and right operators ... the pics don’t match what you think is correct. I spent a lot of time with Pelland support making sure I was getting the correct number of left and right.

David I was going to PM you for your expertise on a broken fridge part. My fridge is missing both the knob that changes it from 12v, 110 and off (so the gas part will work) plus plus more importantly the shaft that it attaches too is completely sheared off.
I would like to try it on gas as it is working on electric but not sure how to do it with no shaft. Hopefully I have attached a photo
Any suggestions?

That is a cool drawing. Could you post a link to the document that it comes from?

The switch that is broken is mostly electrical, (other than the mechanical interlock with the gas valve). As long as you can turn the gas valve on, you should be able to run the fridge on gas. Just be sure that there is no power to the heaters. Otherwise the opperation would be exactly the same as if the switch was not broken.

if there is 1/4 inch or more of the shaft, you can probably get a coupler machined for it, alternately you could try searching "rv fridge salvage" and see if you come up with anything

Thanks for the suggestion Joe, unfortunately there is not even a nub, it is pretty much completely flat.
I will probably keep my eye out for salvage parts.

There was a pretty good salvage yard in BC that i got a few things from, I think it was Tom’s rv salvage if I remember right, there is also old farts rv parts
