Fast-Forward through a lot of cleaning and painting (covered lightly previously) and this is where we're at inside... lots of gloss white everywhere.

And here you can see the before-and-after from it's trip to the local trailer repair place this week.

Aside from having that angle-iron contraption removed from the rear, it's now sitting on brand new bearings and tires.

While it was there I had them inspect the frame stem to stern (no problems) and take a good look at the axle, which amazingly checked out good too.

I also ran it through the car wash on the way home. it's still filthy, but less so.

Next up: Painting and cleaning will commence, but the next large-ish project is the windows. I don't really want to tackle them myself -- replacing windows on MGs and VWs back in the day kinda soured me on that sort of work, but so far I haven't found a Kansas City-area place that wants to touch it. I still have some feelers out, though. We'll see.

I also need to install the new hinge pins I bought, hoping that'll help the door sag. I think so. The current ones are pretty shabby.

I've also got some seals and taillights and I can't remember what all coming in the mail to put on.

Oh, and picking up an AC now that I know how I want to do it, as soon as they go on sale.

Tackled the hinges last night. Short, easy job. As you can see in the before pic, a stack of washers was “good enough”. There was no ball at all.

It’s hard to tell in the pic, but both of the old pins were bent.

Much better after a few minutes putting the new one in.

Unfortunately there’s still a lousy fit.

Miraculously it’s pretty tight at the bottom but it’s definitely sagging.

Is there any adjustment in the hinges? It doesn’t look like it, but maybe?

I’m a little stumped. The frame checks out as solid.

The shell has probably shifted a bit over the years changing the shape of the opening.
Try jacking up the roof in that area a bit to see what happens. Use a 2x4 against the roof to spread the pressure.

This weekend I got a little caught up in might-as-wells. It all started with taking the moldy Dometic add-a-room off. Once it was off, the general state of filth was even more obvious. Normally when I bring a new project home the first order of business is giving it a good bath. This time, events conspired to keep that from happening, so here we are a month later and I still haven't given it a good exterior cleaning.

So three hours of scrubbing later, I finally had most of the grime off. The trailer is noticeably less brown and more red now

With it finally well-scrubbed, I got it in my head I might as well go ahead and put the intended white paint up top. So I did. Well, the first couple of coats at least. It'll need at least one more, probably two. But I think I'm committed now.

Last week I started test-fitting the new countertop, and began putting in the flooring.

And this weekend painting re-commenced. I put on another coat of white and started on the red, laying down 3 or 4 coats. It needs at least one more, but it's starting to come together.

By the way, that’s a rustoleum roller paint job.

Wouldn’t have believed it if you didn’t show the roller and tray in the second photo.

Looking very nice. I hope to see it at a Bolerama soon.

Haven't updated in awhile, but I've stayed busy.

The two biggest items are the new vinyl plank click-lock flooring....

And the AC install under the front bunk (which I've detailed in greater depth elsewhere.

And I've been busy with lots of little trim bits, like molding around the floor pieces, around the AC, new trim-lock around the front door, and so on (and on).

And I finally put up the new cabinet doors!

Next up is the sink, countertop and backsplash, which are *almost* ready. I'm including a shot of the rough-cut test fitting here.

These are a bit out of sequence, but my spouse took them, and she's a much better photographer than I am. So I'm sharing them.

Thanks for the kind words. Putting it all back together bit is pretty satisfying. It's really coming together nicely, and I think we're still on track for a shakedown trip over Memorial Day weekend. It won't be *done*, but it should be usable.

Hopefully, I should get the countertop in and the sink plumbed in this week, and the foam cut for the cushions.

I keep knocking off items from the to-do list, then adding more items back onto it.
