Scamp In Garage on Slope

Hey all - I've seen a lot of posts about great ideas everyone has to get their Scamp to fit in their garages. I have a unique scenario that I'd like to see if anyone has suggestions on.

My garage is standard 7' tall. The approach to my garage is a downward slope of 9% and then a 4' level slab right before the garage door opening. If the Scamp i am looking at is 7'6" I think the ideas of rolling it in on a wheel dollies could work but then I'm concerned about bottoming out on the backend as i'm backing it in.

So sorry for forcing people to do math, but I drew up a little sketch for reference. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to help me out with this and I figured i can't be the only person out there with this problem. BTW has to be in garage due to HOA (i know...)

I failed Trigonometry so what I would do it just try it.. slowly. Stop if anything is about to bottom out or hit anything.

Even though I failed Trigonometry I can see that some required data is missing.. the height of the axle, the exact hub diameter, the wheel dolly height and the angular deflection of the axle with a given trailer weight. And BTW, at least one of those variables will change over time as the gear ages.

So thats my best advice for you. My advice for others is to avoid overly restrictive HOAs at any cost!

No math needed if 7'6" is the only problem.

Try this,
it worked for me lots of times...Leave the stock tires on.
Open the door and prop it open to the header, then by hand...

1] Back the trailer up to the door opening.
2] Raise the tongue up really high.
3] Back the trailer into the garage until it meets the opening.
4] Lower the tongue really low.
5] Back the trailer the rest of the way into the garage.
6] Reverse procedure to exit the garage.

This works with the typical 7' door opening with a typical sectional overhead door.

Having watched our non-native NATO troops do this numerous times after getting their enormous beasts stuck in low bridge tunnels: let the air out of the tires until almost riding on the rims.

I do something similar to what Floyd describes to get my 16 foot Casita through my 6’11” garage door opening after I have swapped to steel rims (although the slope of my approach is less than yours). At first I used a modified trailer dolly to do the jockeying of the tongue height, then I found an adjustable height hitch that allows the truck to do all the work pushing the trailer in. It’s easy to adjust the tongue height, first chock trailer wheels, take pressure off hitch with tongue jack, pull hitch pins, use tongue jack to lower/raise tongue to desired height, then reinstall pins.

Here’s the hitch I use. BTW, I only use this hitch for getting in garage, not for towing trailer.

I have a Meerkat that was purchased in SanDiego at Little Guy trailers. It fits in any garage and you can push or pull it where ever you want it to go. It's 900lbs. It doesn't have a shower but it does have a portable toilet. We love ours. Plus it was the only thing we could pull with a CRV. I don't know what your requirements are for a camper but maybe you want to check it out. It's 13 ft. and the pop up top is perfect. littleguytrailers.com Our HOA requires we put it in the garage also. we have a 2 car garage and there's plenty of room for the 2nd car.

Our HOA requires trailers in the garage. Garage height is 7 foot. I am able to sqeeeeeze the Trillium 4500 into the garage this way:

1 - replace the regular wheels with 8" rims/tires (size 4.80-8)
2 - remove the vent dome
3 - raise the garage door above the door frame (side mount garage door opener)
4 - move level trailer half way into the garage, but stop before roof vent frame bangs into the garage door frame
5 - use a floor jack to lower the trailer tongue down to the point that its resting on the floor jack frame (all the way down)
6 - roll the trailer 3 more feet (roof vent frame clears the door frame)
7 - use the floor jack to raise the trailer tongue and re-deploy the tongue jack

Steps 1-4 can be done with the tow vehicle, and this gets the trailer wheels onto the garage floor surface. You could lower the tongue onto a some type of dolly instead of a floor jack.
