Looking for recommendations

I am in need of someone to install either a rooftop air conditioner or a window box air conditioner in the Orlando Florida area. Any help or suggestions? I would be willing to pay a private person who has done this on their own Scamp 13 as well. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Rae

I don't think you will find anyone to do a credible job on a window air conditioner install, but maybe you will get lucky. Roof top air, if your Scamp is designed to support it, should be a very doable job by pretty much any RV repair shop. If you don't know if your Scamp was designed for roof air, give Scamp a call.

Orlando area has to be full of RV repair people.

If your Scamp is older, chances are roof is not designed to support an AC. Scamp will know.

If you could find someone that's DONE their own and it's a neat job and they've been using it successfully for several years, why wouldnt it be credible? Speaking of a "window A/C" here. I've seen it 'demo'ed at Rallies where people with basic knowledge have done this. It's not rocket science people!

The only thing, if you plan on leaving it permanently, it will have to be a robust mount to take the vibration/bounce going down the road. If you take it out while hauling then back in while camping- which what the demo was at the rally- then it doesnt have to be mounted that rigid. You must support it to help take some of the load off the Scamp window(s).

If you go the "Scamp" roof-top mount, then make sure you have the serial number of the rv ready to give them so they can look it up. Otherwise, the Scamp factory will have no way of knowing whether it's been "prepped" or not.

Hi Rae, I have a third option that I did myself on a 16 foot scamp. It should work on your 13 if you have the sofa/bed combo in the front of your camper. I installed a small window unit from Walmart in the center under the sofa and vented it out a vent that I cut into the floor. If you need more info, shoot me you email and I will explain in detail...……..Ken
