thinking of installing a larger 8000 btu ac in our Egg the 5000 just is too small anyone done this to their Egg? also where is a good place to puchase a cover for the Egg?

Eggcamper Now Has 8000 btu AC!
This weekend, we replaced the Factory installed 5000 btu Frigidaire AC for a GE 8000 btu unit. This model seemed to be closest in size to the 5000 unit but it did involve some cutting to fit it in. We found that the 5000 btu unit was "OK", not "great" for camping in Florida's hot summer. We survived last summer but decided to move forward with this mod before we hit the high temps and humidity. The new unit was <$200....we think it will be worth it!!

found out a good way to improve the efficiency or the Air Conditioner in our Egg by installing an $8 exhaust fan in the outside vent area, the fan helps get rid of the hot air from the back of the ac, it's a 110 v. fan from wall mart, plugs in next to ac plug in, the louvered grill is too restrictive and won't let the hot air out, prficiently, it greatly improved the air conditioner output, I may still install a larger 8000 btu unit if it doesn't perform well in 90 plus degree weather , am still testing,
