Casita shower drain

I know Scamps with a front bath use a pump to transfer water from the shower drain to the graywater tank because of the dropped floor in the shower. Do front bath model Casita's also use a pump?

No pump, just a drain. The older ones used a rubber p trap, I think the newer ones use a Hepvo.

No. The shower floors are not dropped, and grey water tank is slightly lower and mounted in front of the axle. The older trailers have a P-trap and a gate valve to keep the grey water out of the shower floor pan when traveling and when the tank excessively full. In recent years Casita started installing HEPVO valves to replace the trap and gate valve. It is a very popular and recommended retrofit modification with the Casita crowd if you have the P-trap trailer. The Retrofits drove Casita to start installing the HEPVO valves.

Thanks for the reply's. Just seems like a bad design in the Scamp to require a pump just for that purpose and also susceptible to damage and freezing.

I did this install myself in an afternoon and it works great.

No pump needed. But there is a valve in the shower drain that must be opened in order for the water to drain. It also prevents water from coming back up when you are towing if there's any water in the grey water tank. The valve is opened in one of 2 places. There's a handle under the front of the trailer behind the propane tank area or there's one in the front closet. Depends on the year of the trailer as to where it is. The valve needs to be open when draining the tank as that is the air vent for it. Ours is under the front of our 2007 trailer. Sister's 2008 or 2009 was in the closet.

Drain plug

The older trailers have a P-trap and a gate valve to keep the grey water out of the shower floor pan when traveling and when the tank excessively full. So I put in a kitchen sink stopper in my drain so that when traveling I close the stopper, and when I take a shower I open the stopper. I leave the gate valve open for there is no reason to close it and it is not in a great location.
