I run our frig on the "Auto" setting.....so while travelling we are on propane and when hooked up to power in the campground we are on AC. I have a cut off switch on the battery......before unhooking at the campground I turn on the battery so the frig will light. When hooking up in the campground.....I turn off the battery. We have two propane tanks.....one tank lasts us several years of camping.....the other tank is always full just in case. I have never used the DC setting. My two cents.

If you are running down the road with the battery disconnected how does the refrigerator get 12 volt power for the electronics required to run on propane? With the battery shut off there is no power available for the breakaway brake system.

After looking at the Casita wiring diagram it appears that the 12volt system including refrigerator would be powered by the tow vehicle charge line when the battery is disconnected. The emergency breakaway brake system would be inoperative in the unfortunate event of a runaway trailer.
