We just returned from our last camping trip until our
Casita turns 1 years old. After waiting 9 months, we picked her up last year on July 1st in Rice, TX and took the maiden voyage back to Charlotte, NC. The
Casita has exceeded our expectations for us this past year and really made our recent trip to Wyoming really smooth.
Here are some stats:
1. 55 nights spend in the
Casita
2. 37 of those nights were spent off-grid,
dry camping without hookups
3. 12,516 miles traveled
4. The most number of people we had in her at once was 12. 6 kids sitting on the bench and 5 adults around the dinette with one adult standing. Some friends were tent camping and it starting raining so we decided to hang out in the Casita.
5. 1,750Wh is the most
solar we’ve collected in a day. I could have collected more but my batteries got to 100%.
6. 302w is the maximum peak
solar I’ve seen collected from our 4 x 100w panels.
7. 37% is the lowest I’ve seen our batteries drained from our 200Ah
battery bank.
8. 45+ mph winds is the most wind we’ve driven in so far. Our Andersen WDH kept the trailer straight behind us and the VHB double sided tape we used to attach the
solar panels shown no signs of coming off.
9. The Casita turned out to be a great option C after both our downstairs and upstairs A/C went out this past week. I slept and worked in her one night and one day last week.
10. 23 modifications. We got the Casita because of the quality and longevity these campers are known for. But we also knew we would need to make some modifications ourselves to get it ready for our intended usage. Many of these modifications were getting it fully ready to be off-grid with Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, rooftop solar, inverter, curtains, rearview camera, cell phone booster, etc.
