More rise vs flipping back the axel - Ventura

Currently have our 73’ Ventura gutted. Since we’re in process of re doing bolts to frame - we’re considering flipping back the axel to return the trailer to original clearance. Previous owner had truck - so fits well with that hitch/drop height.

we’d be pulling with mini van (for now)... which is not even close with 6” rise. drop still towers above. Currently trying to find some safety info online. Thought I’d check in!

Cheers. V

Different people mean different things when they say flipping. FLIPPING as in turning the axle over puts the curve of the axle down instead of up. This changes towing. Flipping as in just relocating the axle under the springs works fine on most units.
I'm all for returning it to factory position.

If your trailer has brakes or if you want to add brakes, then the leaf springs need to be resting on spring perches that are welded to the axle. If you have a "straight" axle with spring perches welded to it, you can move the axle back to the original position (above the leaf springs) by rolling the axle over.

The springs sit on top of axel currently. Putting it a lot higher than our Odyssey. there are no brakes either. Talking to service place this morning it doesn’t sound like expensive job... hour labor and $50 in parts.

I kinda agree.. nice to put it close to original. I’ll miss the clearance but maybe better for time being. Would spent service money on freaking high hitch custom order from Napa!

Thx for images. Side thought - you covered over vent on left side? [emoji848]

The left side pic was befor the fridge install .the only thing you need to make sure of is towing level ,mine has a dexter axle 4 inch blocks now it towes level at 17 inches bumper and tounge works for most cars and trucks. good ground clerance no more draging at the gas station.
