Great discussion. We currently have the original PD6921 installed, but I clipped the converter coil leads last summer, so it is just functioning as a simple distribution center with circuit breakers for the 12v and 120v circuits. I disabled the converter function because it was putting out 20.1V and that was messing with our new MaxxFan electronics.
We have been getting along fine with a wet deep cycle battery and a 1.5 Amp battery charger.
I've been a bit nervous with the existing battery charger, as we occasionally have more than 1.5 amp of current draw. I liked the idea of boosting our charging capacity and updating to newer charging technology. I ordered a NOCO Genius GEN5 X1 and will install it next week. I'll move the old trickle charger to my barn to keep my lawn tractor battery happy.

New NOCO Genius GEN5x1 battery charger installed next to the deep cycle wet battery. This charger can also be used with AGM or lithium batteries if I choose to upgrade later. The existing deep cycle seems to be handling our needs for now.

As I mentioned earlier, I had clipped the converter coil wires on the original converter because it was putting out 20+ volts. I was just running everything with the "converter" switched to battery and using a 1.5 amp trickle charger to keep the battery charged whenever we had shore power. With the new 5 amp NOCO charger I could have just kept with that plan.
However, I decided that was not very elegant, so I purchased a 15 amp power supply from Amazon.
First, I connected it to 110v and checked the DC output. 12.08v seemed fine, much better than 20.1v from the old converter coil.
Next I patched it into the old converter circuit where the coil had been and turned on all the lights and turned the Maxxfan on high. I let those run about three hours and monitored the power supply for excessive heat. The result of that test seemed acceptable to me, with just a little heat detected.
Lastly, I decided to mount the power supply in the rear bunk, on the bulkhead separating that space from the Duo-Therm heater.
I know, a lot of screwing around to maintain the appearance of the the original PD converter.

I have the same Trillium 4500. I used the PD 4135 and had it professionally installed. I think it was slightly larger but they were able to make it fit.
