Fibreglass Filler Recommendations.

Anyone have recommendations on a short strand fibreglass filler? There's a lot on the market with mixed reviews.Thanks

I have used bondo glass with good results for repairing deep holes in fiberglass and for repairing rotted wood. It works for repairs where not much structural strength is being added.

If you are trying to patch a large crack or hole that requires structural strength, bondo glass will not work. Instead layers of chopped strand mat or woven cloth must be applied with polyester resin.

The area to be repaired must be rough sanded and cleaned with alcohol or acetone.

In my years doing all sorts of repairs, I have been blown away by my latest discovery: the West System fibreglass materials- manuals for doing the repair work plus a super system that measures the resin and hardener without guess work.
My suggestion would be to find someone who carries West System or go online and order Fiberglass Boat Repair and Mainteance by Gougeon Brothers (catalogue # 002-550) It has been invaluable over the time that we have owned and repaired our Boler.
