Lil bigfoot breaker panel

I’ve been giving my lil bigfoot a going over since purchasing about a month ago. I think I’ve got the dc side worked out and the ac side is functioning but in checking it out I was a bit confused with how the panel is wired. It looks like they have the feed coming through one breaker and then jumpered to the other.
Is this typical? I figured it would make more sense to feed both breakers from the cord coming in and have two separate circuits.

Well, you certainly guessed correctly. Actually the upper breaker is the MAIN breaker, and the one it jumpers (the lower one) is the one for a "branch circuit". That is a old Square D type QO 240v air conditioner disconnect, which they have adapter to the purpose.

you have only a 120v feed supply, and any supply needs to be switchable inside a building/trailer, that's why one is considered main, one is branch.
however, if you really wanted to separate you two 120v circuits, you can get a tandem breaker that gives 2 feeds with two handles and fits in the space of a single, but they are expensive.

You can fit this in the place of the lower breaker in the pic and have two circuits, controlled by two breakers.

Thanks everyone.
Good to know trailers are wired more or less as a house. It still hurts my brain a little to have a main breaker controlling only one other breaker. A split breaker is a good idea to make give the main breaker a purpose in life but I don’t know if the feed if big enough to handle more than 15 amps anyway. I’ll probably leave it as is for now and have a sparky upgrade the ac side of things down the road.

My 5500 has only a 15 amp feed, I use the breakers more as switches so I can isolate different areas when using the trailer, or working on it.
