1976 Trillium 1300 door hinge confusion

Attached is a photo of one of my door hinges. It is pretty obvious that the screws are not original. The door is leaning like most of these do, however, it is not loose. The door is starting to flex at the crack lines in the fiberglass (see photo).

Time to redo the door.
I have tried pecking the hinge pins upward, however, they don’t want to budge. I guess if the pins came out the camper would be easy to break into. The only reason I tried is because without the pin remove the screw behind the pinhead cannot come out. Being that these are not the original screws I guess I can’t make a fair assessment of how this works. Out with the screws.

My plan is to:
  • Put a layer of fiberglass mesh over all the four connection areas,
  • Remove the wood or whatever is in the four cavities behind the hinges,
  • Fill the cavities solid with resin,
  • Drill all the way through the filled cavities.
  • Install hinges with carriage bolts with flattish locknuts.

I would like to use stainless hinges. Has anyone seen these or compatible hinges in stainless?

Does anyone see any problems with my recipe?

if you check other threads, you may see that others have used a resin product injected into the wood to stabilize it, and larger screws, for the pins, penetrating oil and maybe heat on the top portion, I have used a c clamp and bits of pipe similar to using a Ball joint removal tool to force the pin out

The hinge is a Kason 139 refrigerator hinge with a 3/8" offset and is still manufactured. It's made of chrome plated zinc with a stainless steel pin. The pin is splined just under the head and can be driven out by tapping from the bottom with a punch. On older Trilliums, the hinge is screwed into a piece of wood hidden in the door support column. Over the years this tends to rot. On my newer Trillium, I had to reset my hinges and posted this thread.

I found the hinges deep in the McMaster Carr catalog as I recall they're not to expensive but the shipping to Canada was prohibitively expensive.

I've had to rebuild the hinge attachment about 3 times now on my 1971. I had stainless steel screws into a new wooden backing shaped to fit into the cavity left by the original backing. They backed out over time, like 3000kms, and then I gorilla glued them in. Last year the door came open on the highway and I almost lost it. I replaced the SS screws with SS machine screws and nylocks. So far this has held up, but I've only got a few 100 kms on it.
